I believe this quote means that you should know your goals and where your goal will start and end. If you don't know then it means that don't have your future planned and you don't know what it would look like. In life everything has to be planned to be perfect or good enough if you don't then you will be lost and you won't know what is going on. Many people have goal or plan there life but sometimes they break those goals and there were never accomplished and they get to other bad things that end up ruin there lives. The people that do accomplished them have a successful life and they don't struggle in there future lives.This is why we should have goals to help us organize ours lives.

Reflection: I believe that James is trying to say that once you accomplish a goal that you have been trying to accomplish is not irritation but success. You will be proud of yourself. But if you stumble you will fall and not make success. If you build blocks you will be building up your life and accomplishing your goals. Life is not easy but if you try hard success would come to you.
