I think what he is trying to say  is that when your popular people make you take bad choices. And if you take the right choices it won't make you popular. So its better to do what is right then been popular because making the wrong choices could lead you to consequences. Consequences could really affect you and your life.Doing the right choices could help you a lot in life and way more persons would have trust on you then the popular persons.

This means that if you do the right thing you will feel your doing the right. If you do the wrong then you will feel guilty and have consequences to your acts. When people choose the right they get rewarded and honesty and people trust the and if you choose the wrong not a lot people are going to trust you.People that choose the right have good jobs and a peace full life and the people who choose the wrong are always thinking about the bad choices they make.
